17th of September 2013 Colorado USA a man named Waylon park is in a server room and is sending what appears to be a whistleblowing email to someone named miles Upshur saying that there's mass corruption going on at mount massive asylum and at the Murkov corporation Waylon is a programmer for Murkoff and he works on something called the morphogenic engine he has witnessed things that have disturbed him and decides enough is enough Waylon goes to fix something on the engine's cameras and when he returns to the server room to get his laptop his employer Jeremy Blair has found out about their email and has Weyland detained as an inmate declaring Weyland tour resigned due to mental illness and has Waylon exposed to tests on the morphogenic engine during the time that he's been used as a test subject an entity called the wall rider somehow gets free and triggers a full scale riot at the asylum whaler manages to break free of his restraints and after climbing through a gate he finds out that he can use a shortwave radio to contact police after evading a creepy cannibal named frank waylon manages to get the radio but is ambushed by Jeremy Blair who destroys the radio before Whalen can use it jeremy knocks whale into the floor and runs off Wayne then ends up in the vocational block and here's an
inmate muttering to himself that he will offer waylon to gluskin as a sacrifice he also refers to gluskin as the groom whalen meets gluskin who chases waylon and waylon falls into an elevator shaft hurts his leg and now walks the limp wayland tries to find a refuge in an empty locker but unfortunately gluskin knows where he is and captures him he drags whalen somewhere and sprays a substance into the locker making whalen pass out at this point the man who weylon sent the email to miles upshur has arrived miles is a freelance reporter miles scales the building with video camera in hand but everything is well off miles soon discovers bodies lots of them murdered in brutal fashion and finds inmates roaming the place these inmates are known as variants a soldier who is impaled on a spike tells miles to escape but before he can do so miles is ambushed by a huge variant named chris walker who throws him through a first floor window to the ground below a heavily injured miles comes too with a man dressed as a priest who calls himself father martin standing over him saying that god has sent him an apostle and says to miles to guard his life as he has a calling a note is found which states that murkoff hardline security have issued a warrant to take control of the asylum due to the imminent danger of environmental contamination which explains the dead soldier on the spike miles has to get out by opening the main doors from a security room but as he's about to unlock them he is sedated by father martin who tells
him that he cannot leave that he has so much left to witness father martin then directs mars attention to a security feed which shows what seems to be some kind of supernatural entity taking out an entire squad of murkoff's security forces father martin introduces the entity as the wall rider the same wall rider in which waylon saw earlier on waking up later in a padded cell miles manages to escape through the sewers and after being chased multiple times miles is cornered but saved by getting into a dumb waiter saved by an unknown person this person is an ex-murkoff employee turned patient named richard trager who considers himself a doctor of sorts and collects various body parts from patients he cuts off two of mars's fingers using some bone shears miles breaks free when traeger leaves the room mars manages to escape and after a brief struggle with traeger in the elevator mars manages to kill traeger by trapping in between for two floors mail sees father martin again who tells him that he has something to show him in the asylum grounds outside mars has an encounter with the war rider which leaves him shaken miles eventually gets to the chapel and finds father martin nailed to a cross and is set on fire but not before providing mars with the key to the elevator which he needed to be able to escape however instead of the elevator taking him to the exit the elevator takes miles to some sort of underground lap miles is chased by the wall rider again but runs straight into chris walker before chris walker can kill miles the war rider kills walker and disappears miles ventures back through the lab but comes across a very old but very much alive dr wernicke dr werneke is the man who created the morphogenic engine which we'll discuss in more detail later and was in charge of project war rider wernicke has to be noted was presumed dead
due to a death certificate we found in the asylum essentially wernicke tells miles that the war rider exists due to experiments carried out on a patient named william or billy hope bernicke also mentions that miles needs to disable billy's life support in order to kill the war rider miles accomplishes this task but is badly injured after being attacked by the wall rider miles stumbles out of the lab and runs into dr wernicke who is now accompanied by a squad of armed guards who shoot miles killing him however there's one more twist as the screen fades to black as the wall rider attacks the guards and presumably dr Wernicke ii killing them now 12 hours after being knocked out this is where it gets really brutal waylon comes too he sees an inmate being brutally tortured by gluskin he mutilates the man's genitals trying to turn him into his bride really messed up he tries to do the same to whaling but gloveskin is attacked by an inmate in the process and when he's able to escape mid-escape waylon is caught again by gluskin who attempts to hang waylon in a room full of hanging bodies but due to weyland putting up a fight kluskin loses
control of the rope and ends up being impaled on a metal spike good riddance whalen makes his way through the assartan to escape seeing the burning chapel through the window from the presetting himself on fire earlier in front of miles he sees a group of murkhoff soldiers standing over traeger's body which has now been removed from the elevator shaft whalen makes it to the entrance to make his escape but jeremy blair is there and stabs a whale in the stomach he mentions to waylon that he can't escape because no one can know what happened there but the wall rider shows up and kills jeremy whalen manages to make it to mars truck but he sees miles walking towards the exit with the wall rider's dark mist all around him waylon drives through the gate and escapes with waylon fully recovered he is sat at a computer again about to upload footage of his ordeal to a leaked site a man named simon peacock is telling him the consequences of doing this telling him that he will be murkoff's number one target but whalen presses upload anyway the story continues beyond this and stretches to the comic book series titled of the murkoff account.
